Thankfully, due to technological advancement, we now have the ability to modernise planning, and the emphasis on digitisation in the planning white paper provides high-level support.

At Bryden Wood, our Creative Technologies team has been working alongside the London Borough of Southwark, the Centre for Digital Built Britain and 3D Repo to advance the issue..They had a very large system, which had been put in 20 years ago.

They wanted to analyse how much of its capacity was used and when, and what its overall condition was.We did a full review, which showed that because conditions had changed since it was designed, it was massively oversized, and not fit for purpose anymore.

As a result, we've done a feasibility study for abandoning the existing system and putting in several smaller plants.This would have multiple benefits, not least in saving on expensive pipe work to carry water long distances, because it's such a large site.
